History

The Stonefly Lounge is a quaint little bar in Bad Rock Canyon – the gateway to Glacier National Park with a 60+ year history.  Most recently the bar was called the Stoner’s Inn, after Lila Stoner who bought the place in the late 60’s and ran it into the 80’s.  The bar started to change hands, and all of the successive owners chose to keep the name Stoner’s Inn as the bar culture continued to evolve.  Eventually an addition was built adjacent to the original bar, and it stood unfinished and used as a woodshed for about five years.

In May 2009, two couples purchased the defunct building and commenced a major clean up and remodel project, enlisting their good friends and giving themselves a whole of 25 days to open the doors and start selling their favorite beverages.  In those 25 days, they tore down and rebuilt the restrooms from the ground up, and removed what seemed like 60 years of dirt and grime.  The new Stonefly Lounge opened its doors on June 1st, 2009 to an excited crowd of seasonal area workers, all ready for a fun new place to hang out near Glacier Park.  Through that first winter the Stonefly sponsored lots of fun football tailgate parties and developed a fun local clientele who appreciate a fun bartender and a clean bar.

The Stonefly has earned a reputation for excellent music and great parties in the venue we call “the Cube”  with regular live music and special events worthy of a stop on your trip to Glacier Park.  Our unique Montana live music venue is a must-play location for bands on tour in the Northwest region. When the space isn’t entertaining fans, it is available for private parties, live poker, and other fun Stonefly sponsored activities.
